I just posted a review to the Caudill site from a very wise middle school student. He said:
I hate stories with morals. They're always for the good. What's up with that?!?!?!
The sad thing is, I think I might agree with him a little. Why do the majority of award nominees have to have a message? Yesterday I attended a meeting about starting a high school book award, where it was very clear that they were looking for message books. Why can't we honor books that are well written and enjoyable? Why isn't that enough for us?
